Fire detection that reacts at the first sign of danger
A fire alarm system has three jobs: detect a fire early, raise the alarm, and help everyone leave safely. DHAS designs, supplies, installs, commissions and maintains Siemens fire detection and alarm systems in Lebanon, for buildings of every size, from a single floor to large mixed-use developments.
Fire protection has been part of our work since 1973, and our team has installed Siemens fire alarm systems as a Siemens Solution Partner for more than three decades. Siemens systems scale from small to very large and from simple to complex, so they are easy to expand as a building grows.
How a fire alarm system works
Detectors and manual call points report to a fire control panel. At the first sign of danger, the panel triggers a coordinated alarm: people are led out of the danger area by sounders and voice messages, and extinguishing systems can be activated.
The fire alarm also takes control of the building: it closes fire doors, captures lifts and shuts down air handling units so smoke does not spread. When firefighters arrive, the panel shows them the critical information they need to act.
European or American standards
Siemens Cerberus PRO is our system for projects specified to the European norm. It combines fast, reliable fire detection with alarm signalling and control, and covers fire control panels, intelligent detectors, peripheral devices, and special detectors for applications from hazardous areas to high-bay warehousing.
Siemens FireFinder XLS serves projects specified to the American norm. When a fire is detected anywhere in the building, the panel is alerted instantly and engages the emergency controls; its full-colour display shows responders floor plans, hazmat icons and the actions available.
Which one fits depends on your consultant’s specification and the project’s requirements. DHAS supplies and installs both.
The right detector for each space
- Multi-sensor detectors combine smoke and heat sensing in one unit for fast, reliable detection; see our guide to the EN 54-29 standard.
- Aspirating smoke detection draws air through pipes to a very sensitive detector, which suits warehouses and high ceilings; read how Siemens ASD+ protects warehouses.
- Special detectors cover hazardous areas and high-bay storage.
- Manual call points let anyone in the building raise the alarm.
Smoke control and extinguishing
Smoke hatches are roof hatches that open automatically when the fire detection system detects smoke. They are placed in stair towers, lift shafts and other high points to remove smoke from the areas people need to escape through. At Aïshti by the Sea, DHAS carried out the installation, commissioning and maintenance of the smoke hatches.
The fire alarm can also release gas extinguishing systems in rooms where water would cause damage, such as server and control rooms. Read our article on replacing FM-200 with Novec 1230.
Selected fire detection projects
- Point A Building, Lebanon — design, supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the fire detection system. The owner’s representative, Al Amani S.A.L., writes: “They have qualified experience to install, commission and maintain the products they provide.”
- Waterfront City, Dbayeh — an integrated fire detection, CCTV and access control system.
- Aïshti by the Sea — installation, commissioning and maintenance of the smoke hatches.

How we work
- Consulting and site survey — our consultants study the site with you, explain the options and give demos where needed (consulting).
- Design — detectors, panels, sounders and interfaces chosen for each area of the building and for the standard your project is specified to.
- Supply and installation — by DHAS technicians, with neat installation and on-site fine tuning (installation).
- Commissioning and handover — programming, testing, and training for the people who will use the system.
- Maintenance — maintenance contracts with scheduled visits keep the system at its best, extend its life and reduce false alarms (maintenance programs).
Frequently asked questions
Should my building use a European or an American fire alarm system?
It depends on your consultant’s specification and the project’s requirements. DHAS supplies and installs Siemens Cerberus PRO for the European norm and Siemens FireFinder XLS for the American norm.
What is a multi-sensor fire detector?
A detector that combines at least one smoke sensor and a heat sensor in one unit, so it detects real fires quickly and reliably. The EN 54-29 standard sets the requirements for these detectors.
Which detection suits a warehouse with a high ceiling?
Aspirating smoke detection, which samples the air through a pipe network and analyses it in a very sensitive detector. Our article on Siemens ASD+ explains how it works.
Can the fire alarm control doors, lifts and ventilation?
Yes. Through its interfaces the system closes fire doors, captures lifts and shuts down air handling units when a fire is detected.
Can the fire alarm work with access control and CCTV?
Yes. Siemens Cerberus DMS brings fire safety, access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance into one management station.
Do you offer maintenance contracts?
Yes. Our customised maintenance programs reduce the risk of failures and false alarms and extend the system’s life. The fire detection system at the Point A Building, for example, is maintained by DHAS.
